Ruby Christening Gown
The Ruby Christening Gown is a lovely example of Victorian craftsmanship. Simple in style this gown still has a good amount of charm and prettiness. The bodice has a lovely front panel of lace and cotton panelling which is decorated with narrow robings trimmed with lace. These robings tracel over the shoulders to the back opening. Short sleeves are also decorated with the same lace as the robings. The long skirt is gathered to the bodice at the waistband via the guaging method. This produces the perfect seam made up of tiny, tiny pleats. The skirt is long and plain and trimmed at the hemline with rows of pintucks and lace. Finally a lovely scalloped lace edging finishes the gown off.
