Christening Cape with Hood
In Victorian times a baby would not be fully dressed if it did not wear a cape for its baptism day. Every baby had to wear a white gown, bonnet and cape.
This Christening Cape with its hood is styled off a Victorian Original and is truly wonderful. It consists of two layers of fabric, the lower cape and the hood, bother gathered into the neckband and both decorated with Swiss lace. The hood, when down, forms a further layer to the cape. Satin ribbon ties that fasten with a bow under the baby's chin gives this cape a stylish finishing touch.
thank you so much for the lovely cape. We did receive it on Saturday morning and I can tell you, me, my husband, my mum and 2 cats were looking inside the box. I really love it and I am so grateful for your help and hard work. Looks like the weather is getting cooler again and the cape is badly needed.
As promised I will send you a picture of Julian on the big day.
Take care, Love, Yvonne
Each cape is unique, being made from vintage white fabric and vintage trims and laces where possible. If the cape is being ordered to compliment a gown then of course the matching trimming will be used.
