Here at Little Doves, we are really excited to launch for the Spring of 2011 a new bespoke service providing christening gowns especially for premature and low birth weight babies.

The inspiration behind the premature baby Christening Gown Collection is twofold.....   A few years ago a friend of mine had a baby at only 24 weeks into her pregnancy.  Her little baby girl was so tiny and even when I saw her when she was about six weeks old, she still was so so small.  She was baptised on her first birthday in the christening gown I had made for her big brother.  It was a lovely occasion and a  wonderful celebration of the excellent care she had received in hospital.

Why do I tell you this story?  Ever since seeing my friend's daughter and other mothers with such small babies at the hospital,  I have thought to encorporate a premature range in my website.   Then last year I had a conversation with a lovely lady living in the south of England who, after having a premature baby herself, is in the process of setting up a website to support parents, friends and family of premature babies.  My involvement?  Could I make a range of pretty and delicate christening gowns?

And so Little Doves is pleased to offer Christening Gowns for premature babies.  These gowns are unique.....  I have purchased a collection of unused  vintage dresses that have the most exquisite embroidery and pintuck detail, perfect for tiny gowns.  Each dress is carefully  converted into a christening gown.  The end result is a beautiful miniature christening gown perfectly proportioned for a premature baby.  Every gown is unique, all you need to do is look at the selection of dresses below and select the one you would like to be turned into your gown. Then  contact us stating your dress choice and size of baby and then ... leave the rest to Little Doves. Your gown will be ready within 1 week or order.
