This christening gown is another wonderful example of the way embroidery can personalise a christening garment and make it truly personal to the family concerned.
The Lewis Christening Gown is made from 100% pure silk dupion and the main attention is focused on the front panel that is decorated with hand embroidered musical notes. The notes swirl upwards from the base of the skirt towards the front bodice. The skirt is pleated and joins the bodice at the waist. A small front panel is centre to the bodice. Robings decorate both bodice and skirt panel and these are adorned with vintage trim. The robings also contain an inverted pleat to ensure the embroidery stands out on the gown.
Long sleeves with cuff detail and a shirt collar give this gown a boyish look, but the christening gown can easly be made with puff sleeves or short sleeves and a no collar to give a look more fitting a baby girl.
