This gown has a lovely feel of elegance and quality about it, from the full sleeves that gather into deep cuffs to the full skirt with its layers and layers of gathered frills.
Dating from the turn of the 19th century, this gown is in excellent condition. The yoke and shoulders are made from bands of eyelet lace and finished with a delicate lace neck trim. Narrow pintucking detail decorates the back of the yoke.
A full skirt is gently gathered into the yoke and falls away to the wonderful hemline detail. This consists of four bands of pintucking, lace trim and then two lovely layers of gathered lace with scalloped edging.
Sadly the gown skirt has some minor tears that have been expertly darned. However, as these disappear in the folds of the skirt that are unrecognisable and do not detract from the beauty of the gown. The price does reflect that the gown has had minor repair work.
All in all, this is still the lovliest gown that I have in stock at the moment.
